Student Services - Tutoring
Alpha Chi Sigma
This organization is a professional chemistry fraternity. They provide tutoring to students in most levels of chemistry classes. Anyone in a chemistry class is eligible. The tutoring is provided at the Chemistry Learning Center.
American Medical Student Association (AMSA)
The AMSA Peer Tutoring Program allows AMSA members to be tutored by other AMSA members who have previously taken those classes and have done well in them. This tutoring program is for pre-medical pre-requisite classes (MCB, CHEM, PHYS, etc).
Chemistry Learning Center
The Chemistry Learning Center provides free tutoring services to all undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in chemistry courses.
The Chemistry Learning Center (212 Chemistry Annex) offers a variety of services to assist you with your chemistry courses.
Free drop-in tutoring is also available during the following hours:
Monday-Thursday: 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
Friday: 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Sunday: 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

- American Chemical Society Student Affiliates
The American Chemical Society Student Affiliates offer free tutoring for all general and organic courses and for many upper-level electives. Email them to find out more at email@example.com.
The Counseling Center offers reading and study skills courses. Consult the website below for a schedule and information about the courses, including the Power Reading Course www.counselingcenter.illinois.edu/?page_id=29.
You can send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org to request a tutor from the Economics Club.
The Economics Department keeps a list of graduate students who are interested in tutoring students in Room 225 of DKH (David Kinley Hall). These students tutor for a fee.

Integrative Biology Tutoring
Students enrolled in IB 150 are encouraged to utilize the course TAs, but if you are interested in finding a tutor please contact Tracey Hickox at email@example.com.
The Mathematics Department offers both free tutoring services as well as private tutoring (for a fee). Hours vary, Monday through Friday.

The MCB Club: Ligase offers free peer tutoring for any student enrolled in a MCB core course.
LIGASE offers the opportunity to be a tutor or be tutored for classes in the MCB core curriculum. Students are matched on a one-on-one basis to ensure that a good relationship is established between tutor and the student being tutored. In this way, students receive continued support from the same person.

- One-on-One Tutoring Sessions
Students may choose to be individually tutored for any of the following courses: MCB 150, 250, 252, and 354. Individual peer-tutoring appointments can be scheduled by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. Please be sure to include your name, contact information, name of course for which you need tutoring and times that you are available.
- Group Tutoring Sessions
Group tutoring is offered on a weekly basis for the following courses: MCB 150, MCB 250 and MCB 354. Times will be announced in lecture or posted on the corresponding course web site. Please email email@example.com for further information.
Office of Minority Student Affairs (OMSA)
OMSA offers four academic services including tutoring, exam review sessions, supplemental instruction and advanced study skills instruction. Services are available to ALL University of Illinois students.
In the past, OMSA East has provided tutors for more than 160 courses including algebra, calculus, physics, computer science, psychology and chemistry. Tutors are matched to meet once a week throughout the semester and can be requested online. Walk-in services are also available for most math, chemistry and physics courses.
- Exam Review
In addition to review sessions held by UIUC teaching assistants and professors, OMSA East offers course specific review sessions to assist students in preparing for hourly, midterm and final exams. - Supplemental Instruction
Supplemental Instruction (SI) provides enhanced course preparation via small group sessions that meet for one hour each week. In the past, SI has been provided for Economics 102 and 103, Chemistry 101, Psychology 100, and Sociology 100. Offerings for SI may change from year to year.
- Advanced Study Skills Instruction
OMSA East provides advanced study skill instruction, either individually or in groups, in test study strategies, time management, lecture note-taking techniques, test-taking strategies, and library research. OMSA students may sign up at OMSA East.

Phi Eta Sigma
Tutoring is provided in a group setting and in a variety of subjects, primarily for introductory level courses. For more information, email the On-Campus Tutoring Coordinator.

Fee-based tutoring is available through the Physics Department (from $8 to $15/hr). Listing will be updated by week 4 of SP11 semester, but many of the FA10 tutors will still be available.

Psi Chi, an honorary society in psychology, provides free tutoring services for students enrolled in psychology courses.

Residence Halls Tutoring
Many residence halls on campus offer free drop-in tutoring in Math, Chemistry, Physics and Writing. Check with your Resident Director for more information.
The Writers' Workshop, part of the Center for Writing Studies, provides free writing assistance for University of Illinois students, faculty and staff from all disciplines and levels.
