Jones, Longo place in national competition

Megan Jones and Joseph Longo have placed in the top 20 in the Enterprise Writing Competition of the Hearst Journalism Awards Program.

Jones placed third with her entry, “Mass emails few, far between reported sex crimes” focused on flaws in reporting on campus sexual assaults. It was a joint project between the Daily Illini and CU-CitizenAccess.org.

Cassie Chaplinsky '17 JOURN

Congratulations to alumna Cassie Chaplinsky on her move to the Lone Star State! Cassie shares that she'll be the weekend sports anchor and a news reporter at KJTV Fox 34 in Lubbock--the home of Texas Tech University (Big 12 Country). Cassie has been working as a video journalist at Fox Illinois in Champaign. She was previously at The Citadel sports video unit in Charleston, SC. In college, Cassie was active with Big Ten Student U and Fighting Illini Productions, was a teaching assistant and interned at Comcast Sports Net in Chicago.

Windy City event brings together students and alumni

The primary purpose of the Connecting Students & Alumni in the Windy City event is to provide an opportunity for current students to gain career and professional development information and to begin expanding their network by interacting with alumni. At this year’s event, more than 90 students were able to attend different panels with nearly 50 College of Media alumni.

Kissel to speak at 2018 Convocation
