Meet the Staff

Jessica Leach

Jessica Hogue,
Director

Jessica serves as the first Director of Career Services in the College of Media. Prior to becoming Director in March of 2013, she was an Assistant Director at Business Career Services. She is an Illinois alumna with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a Master of Science in College Student Affairs from Eastern Illinois University. With an undergraduate emphasis in Marketing, she brings great professional experience with over four years of work at Paragon Marketing Group, a sports and entertainment marketing agency, in Niles, IL. She also has an excellent student services background through BCS (mentioned above) and several other positions at Illinois and EIU.

She has defined field skills and experiences in program development, organization, management, event and logistic planning, and interpersonal communications. Furthermore, she has established programs around student interviewing techniques, résumé writing, networking, teamwork, professional communications, time management, motivation, and employer-college relations.

As the utility player in this one-woman shop, Jessica serves as the point of contact for students, faculty, staff, alumni, and employers. She enjoys working one-on-one and with groups of students, learning from faculty, working with the College’s awesome staff, networking with alumni and strategizing with employers. Be sure to reach out or stop by the office!

Fun Facts: Sports fanatic (Go Illini! Go Cardinals! Go Bears!), world traveler, social butterfly, health nut (or at least trying to be!), student advocate


ColonJasmine Colon
Career Advising Assistant

Jasmine is currently pursuing a Master of Human Resources and Industrial Relations at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.  Aside from her studies, Jasmine enjoys giving back to her community in Chicago by volunteering with non-profit organizations such as Las Caras Lindas or Batey Urbano where she is steadfast on educating inner-city youth regarding educational, social, and political issues.

Jasmine completed her undergraduate degree in Communication and Political Science at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in May of 2016. Prior to completing her undergraduate degree, she interned with Metaphrasis, a translating and interpreting company based out of Chicago where she had the opportunity to kickstart their Human Resources Department.

Fun Facts: Loves tropical climate, THE CUBS, the color Pink, and Goldendoodles - HATES Coffee (& still somehow managed to survive undergrad)!


PetersonEmily Peterson
Career Advising Assistant

Emily is currently pursing a Master of Human Resources and Industrial Relations at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Before returning to school, Emily lived in Madrid, Spain for two years where she taught English and completed a Master of Arts degree in Intercultural Communication, Translation and Interpreting from the University of Alcalá.  Emily has worked within both non-profit and corporate environments. 

Emily completed her undergraduate degree in International Relations and Modern Languages with a minor in Asian Studies from Beloit College.

Fun Facts: Speaks Spanish and Mandarin, plays the flute, is a soccer enthusiast.

Social Media, Branding and Marketing Intern

Erica David-Johnson is a Junior Advertising major also pursuing a minor in Sociology. Aside from being the Social Media, Marketing & Branding intern, she is also a Resident Advisor for University Housing.
