Associations, Organizations, and Conferences
A list of associations, organizations, and conferences relating to majors in the College of Media. Included in the list are the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign collegiate chapters of professional organizations. Get involved in these organizations early, not only to gain great experience pertaining to your field, but also to strengthen your resume!
Several of these sites will also offer their own career or job board that you can use as an additional resource.

Interested in the latest news relevant to your major and industry? You should be! Check out this list of blog postings and news sites from popular sources such as AdWeek, Media Bistro, Poynter, and Smart Briefs.
This is definitely not an exhaustive list, but it is an opportunity for you to quickly pick a few blogs, feeds and e-news pieces to start reading regularly. And, you can always stop by the Student Services Center and spend some time with the MCS print subscriptions (Ad Age, AdWeek, AgriMarketing, and Crain’s Business).
Media Career Services is an important resource to utilize during your career exploration, but it is not your only resource. Explore several supplementary career development tools that cover topics such as resumes, interviewing, social media presence, networking, and portfolio design.

Job Search Engines
In order to complete an extensive and thorough job/internship search, it is important to utilize many different tools. Media Career Services provides you with opportunities to search for job/internship openings via Handshake @ Illinois, career fairs, and networking. However, an independent search using specific company websites and job search engines can also be beneficial. Check out our list of job search engines specific to the majors/fields of interest in the College of Media…and, remember that simply clicking “apply” does not take the place of creating a meaningful connection with an employer.

For those of you who are searching for information about your field of interest, these websites will help you to connect your major with different types of careers in various industries. Learn about typical career areas and also strategies to make you a more marketable candidate.
This excellent resource is provided to all UIUC students for free. Log in using your UI username and password in order to create your personal profile and receive the full benefit of saving your personal settings, job postings, and specific industry/company information.
