Veteran journalist, Justin Breen, recently announced the creation of BrEpic Communications LLC, his own communications and public relations firm. Breen has been an active alum helping to organize the annual career night for the College of Media.

"I'm looking forward to working with University of Illinois graduates and College of Media journalist alumni as BrEpic Communications LLC continues to grow," said Breen, the Journalism Chair for the U of I College of Media Alumni Board. "Targeting forward-thinking U of I graduates with growing businesses will be a key facet of BrEpic's brand building."

Breen was the third employee hired by DNAinfoChicago in 2012 where he served as Senior Editor, one of the company’s top editorial positions. Prior to that, he worked at The Times of Northwest Indiana, where he won multiple national awards as Sports Editor before being promoted to Assistant Managing Editor. He also had a brief stint as the Interim Editor at the Rapid City (S.D.) Journal, where he oversaw a 35-person newsroom. Breen was selected one of the "Top 25 Publishing Leaders Under 35 Years Old" by Editor & Publisher magazine in 2011.

Breen also worked at the Post-Tribune of Northwest Indiana and the Michigan City (Ind.) News-Dispatch, where he was twice named Indiana's Best Sports Columnist by the Hoosier State Press Association.
