Being news literate means knowing how to judge the credibility of a story, but it also means being intentional in how you consume the news and understanding the forces that shape it, says Illlinois journalism professor Stephanie Craft.
Illinifest Student Film Festival, presented by the students of MACS 464 at the College of Media at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign announces its Call for Submissions of short films in the Midwest Student and World Competitions. The festival will be held on Saturday, April 29th at the Lincoln Hall Theater on the Champaign-Urbana campus.
Julian Parrott, associate dean for student services and academic affairs, traveled to China in August to participate in the Journalism Education Association-China inaugural convention at Duke Kunshan University. Parrott presented a keynote speech and also served as a student mentor/coach and as a competition judge at the convention.
