The Students of MACS464: Film Festivals Invite You to the 3rd Annual Illinifest Student Film Festival

The 3rd Annual Illinifest Student Film Festival will take place on Saturday, April 29, 2017 in Lincoln Hall Theater from 11am-8pm, admission is FREE to all. The 2017 festival received 138 submissions of short films. Of those 31 from 11 countries and campus were selected to screen in four categories: Documentaries, U of I Student, Midwest Student, and World.

CU-CitizenAccess to host conversation on local impact of Obamacare

A series of short videos will show the impact of the Affordable Care Act on Central Illinois at a community conversation on Tuesday, May 2.

The films profile members of the community for whom the ACA is not an abstract piece of public policy, but rather has real life implications, whether that be access to a quality of care not previously available to them or a sudden rise in insurance premiums that unexpectedly cuts into the family budget.

Brant Houston, Knight Chair in Investigative Reporting, spoke with “The Hindu” on why data journalism is not restricted to the nerds, and builds the credibility of journalists in the era of fake news.

Houston was in India to conduct a workshop organized by the Energy Policy Institute at the University of Chicago India.
