The 3rd Annual Illinifest Student Film Festival will take place on Saturday, April 29, 2017 in Lincoln Hall Theater from 11am-8pm, admission is FREE to all. The 2017 festival received 138 submissions of short films. Of those 31 from 11 countries and campus were selected to screen in four categories: Documentaries, U of I Student, Midwest Student, and World.
The films profile members of the community for whom the ACA is not an abstract piece of public policy, but rather has real life implications, whether that be access to a quality of care not previously available to them or a sudden rise in insurance premiums that unexpectedly cuts into the family budget.
STORY NOTE: During spring break 2017, 13 College of Media students and one journalism instructor visited 11 media outlets in New York City on a career and internship trip. The following summary was written by students Shahzmeen Hussain and Fatima-Tul Farha.
