Herman named New Voices scholar
The Association of Independents in Radio (AIR) has named Christine Herman to its latest class of New Voices scholars.
Herman is a freelance science writer. She received a Ph.D. in chemical biology in 2012 and a master’s in journalism in 2014 – both from the University of Illinois. Her work has been published in Nature Chemistry, Chemical & Engineering News online, and Christianity Today and broadcast by Illinois Public Media, Radio Health Journal and published online by CU-Citizen Access.
The AIR site states: “AIR’s New Voices scholarships are available for those who can contribute fresh craft, diversity or perspective to the network and media. The scholarship brings new talent to industry gatherings — this year, to the Public Radio Programming Directors Conference in Pittsburgh — where they will find a peer support network, opportunities to meet industry leaders, and chances to share their interests, concerns and work.”
