Hogue receives career services award

Jessica Hogue, Director of Career Services in the College of Media, has received the Outstanding New Career Services Professional Award from the Hire Big10+ Consortium.

The Outstanding New Career Services Professional Award recognizes individuals for exceptional service or special accomplishments in Career Services. This award, along with $1,000 to put towards professional development, is presented to a new professional within the Hire Big 10+ career services community who:

Meyer selected for Scripps Howard program

Eric Meyer, associate professor in journalism, has been named one of six Scripps Howard Foundation Visiting Professors in Social Media for summer 2015. Meyer will spend two weeks at the Dallas Morning News learning how the paper uses social media across multiple platforms. He and other professors in the program will then bring what they've learned  back to their classrooms and their students.

Announcement of film adaptation of Benson book garners attention at Cannes

Chris Benson

Death of Innocence: The Story of the Hate Crime that Change America,” co-written by Associate Professor Chris Benson and the late Mamie Till-Mobley, tells the story of the life and death of Mrs. Mobley’s son, Emmett Till.  The Mississippi lynching of Till in 1955 has been considered the event that galvanized the Civil Rights Movement.  

Among other honors, the book, released in 2003, won a Robert F. Kennedy Book Award Special Recognition in 2004.
