Journalism Students Invited to Meet with Accreditation Team
Journalism students are invited to meet a team of journalism educators who are visiting the University of Illinois next week to evaluate the Department of Journalism as part of the every-six-years accreditation process.
Tuesday, Jan. 29
Communications Library Basement
Meeting students is an important part of the educators' visit. It would really help the team—and the department—if you could make time to talk with them. They will be eager to hear about your experiences here, so they may ask about your classes or your work in student media and internships.
What's accreditation? Think of it as a way to ensure quality—a sort of seal of approval that a journalism program's curriculum, faculty, facilities, and resources are appropriate to the task of educating journalists. The leader of the team evaluating us is Chris Callahan, dean of the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism at Arizona State University.
If you can't attend the Tuesday meeting, you can still meet the team at a drop-in for students:
Monday, Jan. 28
231 Gregory Hall
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask any journalism faculty member or send a note to Stephanie Craft, journalism's department head, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thanks so much for your help!
