Consistently ranked in the top advertising programs in the country, the Charles H. Sandage Department of Advertising at the University of Illinois puts students at the front of the line for the toughest, most rewarding jobs in the industry and in the top Ph.D. programs.

Our program offers the foundational courses in theory, history, and methods, yet allows for flexibility of individual interest areas such as data analytics, computational advertising, audience analysis, and media sales. As a result, the program prepares students for a variety of careers.

Recent graduates are now working as account managers and strategists in high-tech firms such as Google, Facebook, Baidu, Conversant, and Performics. Our alumni also work in: media (Starcom, Group M, etc.), strategy and creative (Leo Burnett, Ogilvy, AKQA, Energy BBDO, Grey, DDB, etc.), sales (PointRoll, inc., Adams Outdoor Advertising), research (MaritzResearch), public relations (Eldelman), consulting (McKinsey), and client-side marketing (Udemy, Motorola, Phillips USA, LG Electronics America, Kimberly Clark, NHN USA, etc.).

Students have also continued with their graduate studies in Ph.D. programs at University of Texas at Austin, Penn State University, University of Wisconsin-Madison, Southern Illinois University, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and many others.

Many of the professors in leading advertising and marketing programs (University of Miami; University of California Santa Barbara; University of Texas at Austin, etc.) earned their graduate degrees (M.S. and/or Ph.D.) from the Advertising and/or College of Media (ICR).
