Congratulations to those selected as the inaugural recipients of the College of Media Awards for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching. In line with the campus awards structure, the College offered three awards—one to a graduate student, one to a specialized faculty member, and one to a tenure track faculty member. They are:

Illinois has selected 17 proposed projects to receive a total of more than $11 million with an aim to generate new sources of revenue. The new initiative, Investment for Growth, is an effort to develop sustainable budget models that create alternative and additional sources of revenue and allow the university to deliver on its academic missions.

Congratulations to alumna Cassie Chaplinsky on her move to the Lone Star State! Cassie shares that she'll be the weekend sports anchor and a news reporter at KJTV Fox 34 in Lubbock--the home of Texas Tech University (Big 12 Country). Cassie has been working as a video journalist at Fox Illinois in Champaign. She was previously at The Citadel sports video unit in Charleston, SC.

The primary purpose of the Connecting Students & Alumni in the Windy City event is to provide an opportunity for current students to gain career and professional development information and to begin expanding their network by interacting with alumni. At this year’s event, more than 90 students were able to attend different panels with nearly 50 College of Media alumni.

After working in digital and video advertising for almost 9 years in both the consumer and healthcare fields, Gant has been accepted to be the Program Director of Video Production for Northwestern University Healthsystem, creating custom content for over 10 hospitals in the Chicagoland area.

"The Multimillion-Dollar Head Fake," the investigative series written by Media & Cinema Studies Professor Jay Rosenstein, has been selected for publication by the Investigative Journalism Education Consortium.  The series, the result of three years of investigative research, takes a detailed look at the inner-workings of the finances of the U of I's athletic department.
