Congratulations to alumna Cassie Chaplinsky on her move to the Lone Star State! Cassie shares that she'll be the weekend sports anchor and a news reporter at KJTV Fox 34 in Lubbock--the home of Texas Tech University (Big 12 Country). Cassie has been working as a video journalist at Fox Illinois in Champaign. She was previously at The Citadel sports video unit in Charleston, SC.

The primary purpose of the Connecting Students & Alumni in the Windy City event is to provide an opportunity for current students to gain career and professional development information and to begin expanding their network by interacting with alumni. At this year’s event, more than 90 students were able to attend different panels with nearly 50 College of Media alumni.

“The Eye of Overtown,” an award winning short film by Assistant Professor of Journalism Charles “Stretch” Ledford, was screened at the "Lights, Camera, 305” film festival in Miami, Florida, on Nov. 9, 2017. The John S. and James L. Knight Foundation sponsored the festival in conjunction with the Black Lounge Film Series, Third Horizon Film Festival and O Cinema.
