Nick Ciffone '10 ADV, was part of the team from TBWA Chiat Day that produced two Cannes Lion award-winning ads. 

As the copywriter, Ciffone and his partner Dave Estrada, Art Director, came up with the ideas and took them from script through production.

Educator award to AG COMM program leader

Professor Lulu Rodriguez, director of the Agricultural Communications Program at the University of Illinois, earned international recognition recently for her teaching skills and contributions. The North American Colleges and Teachers of Agriculture organization presented the 2015 NACTA Educator Award to her during a June conference at the University of Georgia, Athens.

Journalism professor’s paper accepted for conference

Alecia Swasy

Alecia Swasy, the Sleeman Scholar of Business Journalism and Professor in the College of Media, will be presenting a paper, Fry Cook at the Waffle House: How the Boundaries Inside U.S. Newspapers are Shifting in a Digital Age, at a conference in October.

Negotiating Culture: Integrating Legacy and Digital Cultures in News Media, will be held in Oxford. The conference is organized by the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism.

Owen Kulemeka

Owen Kulemeka ’11 Ph. D., public relations assistant professor with the University of Oklahoma Gaylord College of Journalism and Mass Communications, passed away unexpectedly over the weekend. 

Dean Jan Slater said, "Owen was a special person. He was a gifted teacher and a respected colleague. We are fortunate that he was part of our college and our lives. He will be missed."
