Pitcher selected as student convocation speaker
Allison Pitcher has been selected as the 2016 student convocation speaker.
Growing up as an Illini legacy from Chicago, Allison has long dreamed of graduating from the University of Illinois. After starting off her college career as a Journalism major, she is graduating with a degree in Advertising and a certificate in Public Relations from the College of Media.
In her four years here, Allison has surrounded herself with people and experiences that have helped her find her passion and leave a mark on this campus. She was fortunate enough to study abroad with the Advertising Department in Pamplona, Spain and travel to 13 different countries. In the Chi Omega sorority, she held the positions of Public Relations Chair, New Member Educator and Philanthropy Chair, where she helped her chapter raise $42,000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Allison became passionate about the cause, leading to a summer internship with the organization. Other professional experiences include four summer internships back home in Chicago and six on-campus internships including with the Men’s Basketball team and The Daily Illini.
Allison has found her passion and purpose through her time spent with local ministries including Alive, The Vineyard Church and Champaign County YoungLife, where she leads bible studies, serves on leadership teams and mentors other college and high school students in their faith.
The University of Illinois has helped shape Allison into the person she is today and it will forever hold a special place in her heart. She would like to thank her family for the unconditional love and support throughout the years and for her forever friends that she has met along the way.
