Illinois undergraduates from engineering, business and journalism disciplines will work together on three CubeSat missions following recent awards from the National Aeronautical and Space Administration.

Journalism students visit D.C.

For 10 Department of Journalism students on spring break in Washington, D.C., the question at the end of each stop was the same.

“Have you seen the cherry blossoms yet?”

By the final day of the trip, students had come to expect the question as a parting goodbye.  But while the seasonal timing of the flowers added to the atmosphere, the students touring media outlets used their experiences in D.C. to make connections and develop new interests.

Journalism grad receives Pulitzer Prize

Leonora LaPeter Anton ’86, of the Tampa Bay Times was awarded a 2016 Pulitzer Prize for investigative reporting. The reporting was a joint project between the Times and the Herald-Tribune into Florida’s state-funded mental hospitals.
