Congratulations to those selected as the inaugural recipients of the College of Media Awards for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching. In line with the campus awards structure, the College offered three awards—one to a graduate student, one to a specialized faculty member, and one to a tenure track faculty member. They are:
Illinois has selected 17 proposed projects to receive a total of more than $11 million with an aim to generate new sources of revenue. The new initiative, Investment for Growth, is an effort to develop sustainable budget models that create alternative and additional sources of revenue and allow the university to deliver on its academic missions. The College of Media is among the units receiving support.
In 23 years as a spokeswoman for American Airlines, Mary Frances Fagan handled questions about weather delays, bumpy landings, crashes, close calls, labor strikes and bankruptcy, not to mention an airport terminal with a flea infestation and the time a suitcase with a buzzing electric razor inside created a three-hour flight delay.
Reporters respected her. She called them back promptly and was always available for a quote or a “live shot” on TV.
