How Evans’s (BS ’08, journalism) 'Hot Ones' showcases the hilarity and humanity of celebrities

Illinois alumnus Sean Evans is the host of the viral celebrity interview show Hot Ones, with 5.9 million subscribers and counting. It also could be argued that he's a professional consumer of violently spicy chicken wings, which isn't at all what he expected to do with his broadcast journalism degree. "I always had dreams that I could be on television. I used to watch The Late Show with my dad, and I'd make him pause the VHS whenever the audience laughed to explain jokes to me. But's hard to just 'get into TV.'" When he graduated from the University of Illinois, a professor tried to convince him to become a weatherman, but Evans found work as a copywriter instead.
