Institute of Communications Research alumna Jillian Báez (PhD '09) won this year’s Bonnie Ritter Outstanding Feminist Book Award, Feminist and Women Studies Division, National Communication Association, for In Search of Belonging: Latinas, Media, and Citizenship. "From an incredibly rich field of intersectional feminist scholarship nominated this year, it was a pleasure to have the opportunity to review such strong work," the NCA said.
Her book was published in 2018 by the University of Illinois Press.
Dr. Baez is associate professor of Africana & Puerto Rican/Latino Studies at Hunter College, City University of New York. She recently returned to the College of Media as part of the ICR Distinguished Alum Speaker Series.
