Journalism alumni highlighted in feature on Midwest Center for Investigative Reporting

Recently, journalism alumni Pam Dempsey (MS ’09) and Johnathan Hettinger (BS ’15) were highlighted in the Global Investigative Journalism Network as part of a feature on the Midwest Center for Investigative Reporting, a nonprofit newsroom focused on in-depth reporting of agricultural issues. 

Dempsey is executive director of Investigative Midwest, which uses both traditional and innovative digital tools and techniques to analyze data about agribusiness and distribute the results.

Hettinger is an enterprise reporter at Investigative Midwest, focusing on climate change in Illinois. 

Professor Brant Houston, Knight Chair in Investigative and Enterprise Reporting in the Department of Journalism, is the treasurer on the Board of Directors for Investigative Midwest. He is also co-founder of the Global Investigative Journalism Network.
