Hawkins wins Studs Terkel Community Media Award

Karen Hawkins (BS '97, journalism) has won a 2021 Studs Terkel Community Media Award for her work as co-editor in chief of the Chicago Reader and founder of feminist media company Rebellious Magazine.

The Studs Terkel Award is given by Public Narrative to Chicago reporters, editors, producers, videographers, and photographers who exemplify the values of Terkel’s journalism by taking risks in covering social issues.
