Media students present at 2023 Undergraduate Research Symposium

Students from the College of Media are participating in the 16th annual University of Illinois Undergraduate Research Symposium, held Thursday, April 27, in the Illini Union. The symposium features presentations, posters, and performances from students across campus. (View the program.)

Pictured above is "Yellow Hollywood" by Alex Gallegos, a sophomore in media and cinema studies, who was a semi-finalist in the Image of Research competition. Read his description about his image, which was inspired by the film Everything Everywhere All At Once. The winners' and semi-finalists' images are on display as part of the symposium.

As part of the Undergraduate Research Apprenticeship Program to assist advanced graduate students with their research projects, Nancy Zhang, a freshman in computer science + advertising, worked with research mentor Hyunseo Yoon in the Department of Recreation, Sport & Tourism.

Jenny Oyallon-Koloski, assistant professor of media and cinema studies, was the research mentor for Gehan Jia, a junior in mathematics and computer science (LAS) for their presentation on "Howl's Moving Castle Moving."
