American Advertising Federation
The AAF is a professional business organization that brings together students and professionals to create a unifying voice in the industry. Headquartered in Washington, D.C., AAF consists of a nationwide network of advertisers, agencies, media companies, local clubs and student groups. As a chapter of the American Advertising Federation, AAF Illinois seeks to bring students together to network with each other as well as with professionals in the advertising, media and marketing fields. Through presentations, social events, philanthropic events and participation in the National Student Advertising Competition (NSAC), students in AAF gain skills that supplement their education and can ultimately help them find jobs after graduation. The organization accepts new members at the beginning of each semester (excluding summer).

Hear My Voice
Hear My Voice is a collaborative project designed to create a platform of inclusion for all voices through articles, research studies and multimedia projects. Through teaching, scholarship, research and constant hands-on experience, students learn how to create and develop professional, ethical, multimedia elements and platforms as well as engage in critical thinking. Hear my Voice practices Active Centralized Empowerment which means everyone works together towards a central goal and individual leadership development. No one is left behind or on the margins. All students across campus of any skill level, race, gender, sexual orientation or preference, and nationality, who have the desire to work towards educating the public about unique and authentic perspectives through narratives and research can join.

Illinois Sales and Marketing Association

Illinois Sales and Marketing Association is an undergraduate student organization providing members educational and networking opportunities within the world of sales and marketing. We began as the Selling Illini and evolved into ISMA to expose a larger breadth of students to professional development opportunities. The mission of Illinois Sales and Marketing Association is to offer students opportunities to expand their personal and professional competencies within the industry through insightful guest speakers, workshops, and professional conferences. Our organization is headed by dedicated students looking to better the University of Illinois as a whole. 

The goal for Illinois Sales and Marketing Association is two-fold. Firstly, to raise the visibility and reputation of the Media Sales certificate program at the University of Illinois to outside recruiters and place it as one of the top sources for talented and passionate students. Also, the organization as a whole would function to develop and facilitate opportunities for its members to learn about Sales and receive unique internship/job opportunities through networking with other students, guest speakers, panel discussions, and club trips. IMACS: Illini Media and Cinema Studies
Illini Media and Cinema (IMACS) strives to improve the experience of Media and Cinema Studies majors at the University of Illinois by providing opportunities geared towards an exploration of the production of film and television, as well as keeping students informed on film-related opportunities both affiliated and not affiliated with the university. Through a series of lectures, workshops, and other events, they strive to cater to those interested in the cinema aspect of Media and Cinema Studies.

National Association of Black Journalists
The National Association of Black Journalists works to improve the quality of news coverage by promoting diversity and ethical reporting. The NABJ invites professional journalists and professors to share their expertise and encourages members to participate in campus media outlets. Visit the NABJ Web site.

Public Relations Student Society of America
The PRSSA is a student-run, non-profit organization that is dedicated to bringing public relations to the Champaign-Urbana campus. The PRSSA a 100+ student organization sponsored by the Registered Student Organization at Illinois open to all majors.  PRSSA’s goal is to introduce members to the field of public relations, facilitate career development and better inform about the field through professional speakers, career workshops, case study discussions, technology training and community projects. The PRSSA also participates in the Bateman Case Study Competition, a national contest in which student teams create and implement a public relations plan for a nonprofit client. The PRSAA meetings are typically held on Tuesdays or Wednesdays.

Society of Professional Journalists
The Illinois student chapter of SPJ aims to help students connect with other journalism majors and professionals in the field to learn more about careers in journalism. Faculty members occasionally attend meetings to discuss different aspects of journalism. All journalism students are welcome to attend meetings and participate in the organization, including pre-journalism students, as well as undergraduate and graduate students. Members have a lot of fun and love to see new faces!

The Spread
The Spread is the brain child of the University of Illinois’ registered student organization called JAMS (Journalism Advertising and Media Students), which unites all students interested in media-related activities.
