College of Media transfer periods begin the first week of classes each semester and run for five-six weeks. Successful applicants will transfer into the College of Media for the following term.

Interested students must complete an online application which includes a personal essay of up to 500 words and submit their Academic History to the Student Services Center in 18 Gregory Hall. No additional materials (including letters of recommendation, portfolios, resumes, written copy, DVDs of work, etc.) will be reviewed during the application review process.

  • The essay should include details of relevant and recent media-related experiences, demonstrate the applicant’s communication abilities, and detail his/her interest in and commitment to the pursued Media major
  • Students may download their Academic History through Student Self-Service

The application must be submitted online and the academic history must be received by the posted deadline. If one or both parts of the application are not received by the deadline, the application will be considered incomplete and not reviewed for admission.

Students may apply to any major in the College:  Advertising, Journalism, or Media and Cinema Studies. Those selecting Media and Cinema Studies must pick a concentration of either Media Studies or Cinema Studies. 

Students wishing to apply to one of the majors in the College of Media from another College at the University must complete the On-Campus Transfer Application. Current Advertising, Journalism, Media and Cinema Studies, and Media General Curriculum majors with fewer than 90 hours need to complete the Current Media Students Change of Major Application to request a new major within the College. Applications for change of major are considered alongside and in competition with ICT applications for admission to the College.
