Students earn IBA awards

University of Illinois journalism students won seven awards, including five first places, in the 2015 Student Silver Dome Awards presented by the Illinois Broadcasters Association.

The winners are as follows:

1st Place, Best TV News Pack: Emily Thornton
2nd Place, Best TV News Pack: Ava Kelley
1st Place, Best TV Sports Pack: Jonathan Nonnie
1st Place, Best TV Photojournalism: Kaitlin Bane
3rd Place, Best Radio Sports Story: Amirah Zaveri
1st Place, Best TV Longform Programming: UI-7 News: Helping Hands
1st Place, Best Radio Newscast: Cassidy Williams

U of I students competed against students from other Illinois colleges and universities. The awards were announced Nov. 13 at the "IBA-U" conference at ISU in Normal, Illinois.
