The Midwest Center for Investigative Reporting has been awarded the 2017 Peter Lisagor Award in the online category for the Best Investigative/Public Service Reporting for the story:
CU-CitizenAccess.org, an online newsroom affiliated with the University of Illinois College of Media, has received a $40,000 donation for reporting resources from the Marajen Stevick Foundation.
The donation will help CU-CitizenAccess.org produce reporting on public health and related issues in Champaign County and east central Illinois. Among the issues are the effective delivery of health care to the elderly and to those in rural areas, risky behavior such as drug use and gun violence, and environmental dangers.
Brant Houston, Knight Chair for Investigative Reporting at the College of Media, was quoted by the Columbia Journalism Review in an article on invesitgative journalism.

Frank is president and general manager of news at Rocky Mountain PBS in Denver. She founded I-News, the nonprofit investigative news organization that merged with Rocky Mountain Public Broadcasting in 2013.
