Speak to students

Share your expertise with current students by giving a guest lecture or informal talk to a class or student group. Media students love to hear about the career paths and successes of alumni and faculty appreciate the opportunity to integrate practical experiences into the curriculum.

Follow us on Twitter, like us on Facebook, and make sure to update your alumni information online to receive our email newsletter and print publications.

Sponsor a project

Practical experience is key to success in Media. Our students are looking for organizations they can represent in advertising, journalism, media sales, public relations and more. You can help by serving as a client for class projects and student groups.

Participate in a panel discussion 

Throughout the year, the College hosts panels on career opportunities, industry trends, research and more. These panels allow members of the campus community to get a more complete picture of the media landscape and allow for alumni panelists to provide multiple viewpoints on a given topic.

Provide career advice/immersion opportunities

Illinois students are looking for as much “real world” experience as possible. Sharing opportunities for internships, job shadows, agency/workplace immersion trips, and/or career development workshops are all ways you can help students engage with the industry in meaningful ways.

Host/attend an event 

Help connect alumni and friends with the mission of the College by hosting an alumni event at your home or workplace. The College hosts a number of events each year for alumni to connect with fellow alumni, students, prospective students, faculty and more. Make sure your contact information is up to date to receive invitations to these events.

Provide leadership

Alumni and industry professionals are needed to serve on various boards, committees, and councils within the College.
