Ways to Give

Building an Agile College: The College of Media Annual Fund

The media landscape is constantly changing. To keep up with these changes, the College must be agile and innovative, responding to opportunities quickly. The Annual Fund is the key source of unrestricted funds that keeps the College on a trajectory for continued success. Students, faculty and the entire College grow and benefit from your unrestricted gift.

Endowments

You can help secure the infrastructure of the College through an endowment, which supports faculty, students and academic programs in perpetuity. As named funds, they also are legacies to your generosity or to whomever you wish to honor. The principal of the fund is not used; the endowment provides a steady source of funds based on the interest income it generates.

Endowed funds are permanent and make a lasting impact for future generations of students and faculty in the College of Media. An endowment can be created through an outright gift, through a bequest in a will or through a life income gift such as a charitable gift annuity or a charitable remainder trust.

Named Endowed Scholarship - $25,000

Named Graduate Fellowship - $250,000

Named Professor of Practice - $500,000

Named Professor - $500,000

Named Chair - $2,000,000

Named Deanship - $5,000,000

The creation of new endowment funds will be critical as the College of Media works toward meeting the goals within its strategic plan. As endowments are a source of permanent financial support for the college, they assist greatly in allowing us to recruit and retain the best faculty and students and provide the resources they will need to be successful.

Matching gifts

Don't forget to check with your employer to see if there is a matching gift program where you work. It could double or triple the size — and the impact — of your gift, and you get credit for the entire amount.

Deferred gifts

Careful planning can integrate a deferred charitable gift into your overall financial, tax and estate objectives to maximize the benefits for you and the College.

Following are examples of the kinds of deferred gifts through which you can make a lasting impact:

  • Bequests
  • Charitable trusts and annuities
  • Pooled income funds
  • Retained life estates
  • Retirement accounts
  • Life insurance
  • Planned giving

Many individuals and families have a common misconception that the gift-planning process is complicated and costly. We have streamlined the entire process to make it both simple and cost-effective. Our extensive experience and resources allow us to assist donors from the outset of their gift considerations through execution of a well-thought-out plan designed to achieve their personal and charitable priorities.

You may establish an estate gift (via will, trust, IRA, etc) for the College of Media by including the following language:
I leave (% of estate, $ amount, residue) to the University of Illinois Foundation (37-6006007), to be used for the College of Media (add department or program) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

We invite you to consider how you can make a real difference for students and faculty in the College of Media. If you have interest in learning more about establishing an endowment, the Chancellor’s Circle, the Annual Fund or other opportunities to make an impact, please contact:
