BS Journalism

Our students get real-world experience working with faculty in small laboratory classes in Gregory Hall and Richmond Teaching Studio that are, in effect, working newsrooms. The stories they produce are broadcast on UI7, the public access, educational cable TV channel operated by the University, and by Illinois Public Media, the public radio and television outlet arm of the College of Media. Stories are routinely published in The Daily Illini, the independent student newspaper at the University; The News-Gazette, the local newspaper serving the Champaign-Urbana community; and CU-CitizenAccess, the Journalism Department’s award-winning community online news and information project devoted to investigative and enterprise coverage of social, justice and economic issues.
