View on Ebertfest YouTube channel or Facebook page
This fall, the College of Media presents the Ebert Symposium Series with virtual panel discussions. Join us online on Thursday, Oct. 22, for a discussion on Documentary Film and Social Change, moderated by College of Media faculty members Jay Rosenstein, professor of media and cinema studies; Alison Davis, lecturer in journalism; and Angela Aguayo, associate professor of media and cinema studies, with a panel of documentary filmmakers Kirby Dick, Sacha Jenkins, and Dawn Porter. (Read their bios.)
The panel will examine documentary film including features, community engaged projects, and cell-phone footage as political discourse directed towards social change. The panel will discuss documentary as a means to examine public life and engage public participation in social issues.
To submit discussion questions to the panelists, please fill out this form in advance of the event.
The series continues on Thursday, Nov. 5, for a discussion on Representation in Media.
