Faculty and students participate in AAA conference

A number of faculty and students from the Charles H. Sandage Department of Advertising and the Institute of Communications Research were in New York City participating in the American Academy of Advertising annual conference this weekend.

Nelson editing leading journal

The Journal of Advertising, the premier journal of the American Academy of Advertising, is inviting submissions for a special edition on advertising and children. Submissions are due January 30, 2018.

The purpose of this special issue is to draw from across methodological and disciplinary perspectives to examine issues related to children through age 18. Submissions from across academic fields are encouraged.

Faculty and students participate in conferences

Three students in the Institute of Communications Research presented research at the American Academy of Advertising conference. Several faculty members also participated in the conference.

Nelson Takes over as President of the American Academy of Advertising

Associate Professor Michelle R. Nelson has been named president of the American Academy of Advertising. She began her term at the Annual Conference of the AAA in Boston on March 25, 2017. A longtime contributor to AAA, Nelson has also served as Vice President of the organization and as a member of the publications committee.

Advertising /ICR alum wins prestigious research award at American Academy of Advertising Conference

Advertising and ICR alum, Dr. Wei-Na Lee, the F.J. Heyne Centennial Professor in Communication and Professor of Advertising and Public Relations at the University of Texas at Austin, received the prestigious Ivan Preston Outstanding Contribution to Research award at the Annual Conference of the American Academy of Advertising in Boston on March 25, 2017.

Students, faculty and alumni of the Charles H. Sandage Department of Advertising were among those receiving awards at the American Academy of Advertising annual conference.

Assistant Professor Brittany Duff and Associate Professor Sela Sar received runner-up for the best article for the premier journal in the field, Journal of Advertising for their co-authored article “Seeing the Big Picture: Multitasking and Perceptual Processing Influences on Ad Recognition.”

Brittany Duff received the Best Reviewer award for the Journal of Advertising.

Advertising faculty and students participate in conference

Several advertising faculty and doctoral students in the College of Media will be presenting academic papers, leading the pre-conference sessions, serving as experts on panels, and moderating sessions at the American Academy of Advertising Annual Conference March 17 – 20.
